Liberal Arts Pathway

Outstanding Enrichment, Outstanding Learners

All students at CSLA are part of the Liberal Arts Pathway. This is our specialist provision for students who are very able and interested in pursuing Liberal Arts subjects at A level and university. In addition to the expert teaching they receive at the VI form academy, CSLA will provide many opportunities beyond the normal curriculum to ensure that you are able to apply for the most competitive universities worldwide. In addition, all CSLA students complete an Extended Project, working on their own independent research.

As part of the Liberal Arts Pathway, there is an unparalleled co-curricular programme of lectures, seminars, workshops, additional tutoring and individualised support to assist CSLA students in achieving a place at their chosen top university.

The Liberal Arts Pathway provides:

An introduction to theoretical and critical concepts

Lectures by visiting academics

Developing research and academic writing skills

Access to wider academic reading

Trips to universities

The Festival of Ideas

To reflect the values of our school and to showcase the work of our students, CSLA will be holding an annual Festival of Ideas during the summer term. Through a series of events, open to our community, there will be a celebration of cultural and critical ideas. This will include public speaking events, mini-lectures on students’ research and staff/ student panel discussions.

Research Placements, Summer Schools and Enrichment Opportunities

There are many opportunities for students in Year 12 to get real-life experiences of their studies. At CSLA we support our students to take up these opportunities when they are available.
